Ah, the French manicure—a timeless classic that has been a manicure mainstay for decades. It can be bold and chunky, colorful and unexpected, creamy and subtle, or, in Kaia Gerber's case, so delicate and microscopic you need a magnifying glass to see it!
The model and actor spent the long holiday weekend overseas at the Venice Film Festival, where she made a high-profile appearance with rumored new boyfriend Lewis Pullman. Because she was busy hopping from event to event, she needed a mani that could easily go from casual lunches to the red carpet, so enter the micro French manicure!
A micro French, as its name suggests, is the daintiest of the French manicures. It's so named because instead of a thick white or cream stripe at the tip of the nail, a nail artist draws the slimmest, tiniest, most minimal line possible. Gerber's nails were a long almond shape with a neutral base color and only the subtlest whisper of a white half-moon shape at the tip for a blink-and-you'll-miss-it hint of color. It's so minimal that at first glance, it doesn't look like she's wearing anything at all, but if you squint, you'll see that precise, perfectly painted tip.

A French manicure never ever goes out of style, and celebs have embraced the look in all its facets throughout 2025, Gerber included. Nail trendsetter Hailey Bieber has been all about the French lately, including a faded French with a soft gradation. We've seen variations on the French manicure on Keke Palmer, Kate Hudson, and Kylie Jenner, who wore a black-and-white “twisted French” one day and a thick, “deep ‘90s French” the next. If you’re looking for something a bit bolder than the scaled-back palette of a classic French, take a peek at our favorite fall nail color trends and mix up the mani with a pop of plum, creamy caramel, or sophisticated, shiny black.
